My career in photography started when I was selected from my high school student body to be a yearbook photographer and was paid $2 a photo. It wasn't much money and I didn't get to see my pictures published until the next school year, but it was enough to get me hooked. After high school, I attended Appalachian State University and later transferred to the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY and received a bachelor degree in illustration photography. After college I worked for several years as a freelance photography assistant, working with some of the nations top photographers on commercial, editorial, and architectural photo shoots. I also spent a few years working as a photo editor at news agency Agence France-Presse. I now work as a freelance photographer regularly for USA Today, The Washington Flyer Magazine, Diabetes Forecast, Pitney Bowes' Priority Magazine, The Rails-To-Trails Conservancy, ABA Journal, Federal Computer Week, CDW Fed Tech, JDRF Countdown Magazine and ACEC Engineering Inc. I've had photos published and done stories for Working Mother Magazine, Washington Business Forward, US News & World Report, People, The New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, CFO, Baltimore Magazine, On Earth Magazine, KBR Red Lanyard, & Arabic language Hi Magazine.
